OKC Zoo Orientation Plaza & Africa Savannah
The City of Fort Worth used Concrete Canvas and Elephant Armor to stabilize Glen Garden Drive’s eroding bar ditch, creating a durable, low-maintenance drainage solution that withstood heavy water flow and is now a model for future projects.
Challenge
The client needed to find something that was aesthetically pleasing and also offered adequate load support.
Constraints
Aesthetics was a significant decision-maker. Ease of installation was vital because the zoo was open while construction was going on, and this exhibit was in the middle of the park. These pavers were easy to transport due to their lightweight.
Solution
GeoPave and GeoBlock Pavers were utilized atop the prepared subgrade. No base course was necessary due to preexisting subgrade strength and expected light traffic over the area. The folks at the zoo were familiar with these types of applications and actually requested this product, which they had used in other regions of the past. The material worked like a charm. The installation was seamless, and the finished application turned out great.
