Boone County Transmission Line
The slopes of a newly established access road were resistant to develop vegetation. Ferguson Waterworks steps in to analyze the soil and provide effective and fast coverage.
Challenge
Generally, when a new power transmission line is installed, access roads are created. The slopes lining these roads need to quickly establish vegetation to prevent erosion. That’s exactly what happened in Boone County, WV; unfortunately, using traditional means to re-establish vegetation along the road was unsuccessful. Without vegetation, erosion was imminent and access could become unreliable.
Solution
Firstly, Ferguson Waterworks conducted a thorough soil test to uncover potential causes for the lack of plant growth. As a result of the test, it was determined that to quickly establish vegetation, soil additives, including nutrients and organic matter, were required.
Combining ProGanics B.S.M and BioPrime with the hydroseeding mix, the team saw results after just 1 month.
Product Advantages
- ProGanics Biotic Soil provides the necessary organic matter for generating “topsoil” from the soils onsite.
- BioPrime slow-release 18-0-0 fertilizer mixed with soil conditioners such as seaweed extract, humic acid, and endo mycorrhizae increases not only root mass but also cell structure; optimizing the delivery of macro and micro-nutrients. It also helps quickly establish vegetation.
